Southampton - Ipswich Town: Form Analysis
Southampton began the season as the second favourite to earn promotion this season. However, having delivered a couple of poor performances of late, they are now the fifth-favourite to be promoted. The Saints suffered their second consecutive defeat in their last match, losing 4-1 to Leicester City at this venue. That followed a 5-0 hammering by Sunderland the previous week. Having shipped nine goals in their last two games alone, Southampton currently possesses the worst defensive record in the Championship. They have let in 16 already this term, which is three more than Middlesbrough at the foot of the table. Still, at home, the hosts are marginal favourites to win this match, according to the bookmaker odds.
Meanwhile, Ipswich have emerged as one of the surprise packages in the early stages of the season. The visitors earned promotion by finishing second in League One behind Plymouth Argyle last term. And fair to say they have adapted to life back in the Championship very well. The Tractor Boys secured their fifth win in six matches beating Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 last week. That extended their record to three wins in a row in all competitions, with their only defeat so far coming against Leeds last month. They are also the second-highest-scoring team in the league with 12, which is only bettered by Norwich City’s 15 to date.

Southampton & Ipswich Town Squad Analysis
For The Saints, Ross Stewart and Juan Larios are both expected to miss this match through injury. Jack Stephens has missed the last four games with a calf strain, though he could feature on the bench provided he passes a late fitness test. Defender Ryan Manning is at risk of suspension with four yellows to his name this season.
The visitors will be without the services of Christian Walton, who is out with a foot injury he picked up in preseason. Wes Burns missed the last match with a torn muscle and is likely to be out for at least a few more weeks. Midfielder Samy Morsy has already notched up four yellow cards in six matches and is at risk of suspension if he receives another caution in this one

Our Southampton vs Ipswich Town Prediction
Despite their last two results, Southampton have more than enough class in their side to bounce back with a win here. However, their defence has been an issue and could be caught out again here by a sharp-looking Ipswich attack. Both sides have been playing front-foot football so far this season, and we expect an entertaining match here will loads of chances at both ends. Therefore, our Southampton vs Ipswich Town prediction: Over 2.5.
