Southampton vs Crystal Palace Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League

Two wins in a row have taken Southampton up to 14th place in the Premier League. Saturday sees them host Crystal Palace who are ninth in the table and five points clear of the Saints. Southampton have had a good festive period with wins at Aston Villa and Chelsea. The first win took them out of the bottom three, the second moved them to 14th and three points above the bottom three. Now they have two home league games against sides from London. Following this match against Crystal Palace, they host Tottenham on New Year's Day. Home form hasn't been great this season though with only two of their six league victories coming at St Mary's. Seven of their nine home league games have had over 2.5 goals scored in them, though 24 of the 33 goals scored have been from the opposition.

Crystal Palace are in ninth place and only six points behind the final Champions League place. It's doubtful many of their fans will seriously be thinking they can finish in the top four this season. They are an inconsistent team and have already lost seven league games this season. The weekend saw them lose at Newcastle United and they had to come from behind to get a win over West Ham United on Boxing Day. That victory ended a run of three league matches without a win. On their travels, Palace have won three but lost four with them only scoring eight goals. Southampton are the form side but Palace can never be written off, especially when playing teams below them in the table. Go for under 2.5 goals to be scored in this match.
