Southampton have had a dreadful season in the Premier League and begin the weekend in 18th place three points from safety but with a game in hand on the two sides directly above them. They have gone six league games without a win and conceded three times in each of their last three matches. A win at bottom of the table West Brom is their only Premier League victory in their last 19 league games The two wins before that were against West Brom at home and an Everton side in total disarray and about to sack Ronald Koeman. The Saints have gone eight home league games without a win since that defeat of Everton in November and have only won three of their last 21 home league games. New boss Mark Hughes has only had that FA Cup quarter final win at League One since taking over and this is a dress rehearsal for their semi-final with Chelsea next week. Southampton have won more cup ties than league games this year and if they don't start winning soon, then they could repeat Wigan's feat of winning the FA Cup and being relegated in the same season.

Chelsea are fifth in the table but ten points adrift of fourth place so it's looking like the Europa League and most likely a new manager next season. They could still win the FA Cup this season but it's been a disappointing defence of their Premier League title currently being 27 points behind Manchester City. They have only two wins in their last seven league matches and have lost their last three on the road, though two were against Manchester City and Tottenham. It's difficult to have a lot of confidence in them at present but they are up against a side that are really struggling so an away win is the bet here.
