Southampton will play host to Brentford as the two sides shift focus to the Premier League following successful outings in the third round of the FA Cup. Two points separate the two sides, Brentford with 23 points in 12th place and Southampton with 21 points, placed 14th. Southampton are coming from an away 3-2 win over Swansea in the FA Cup, they had to win it in extra time. Brentford on the other hand, are coming from a 4-1 win away at Port Vale in the FA Cup and will be going into a tougher encounter here, looking to make it three straight wins. They beat Aston Villa 2-1 in their last league match and go into this game with six goals in the last two matches. It is a big improvement, having failed to score in three earlier matches and they will be happy to face a side that hasn’t managed many clean sheets lately. Brentford themselves will also have questions on their defence, having failed to keep a clean sheet in the last five matches. Their away run isn’t the best either on a defensive perspective, and going to this game, both sides have scored in three of their last five away matches.
