Southampton will be looking to get back to winning ways when they play host to Brentford in the next round of matches in the Premier League. The two sides are in the bottom half going to this game, Southampton the worse off at position 15 with 17 points. Brentford have 20 points, in 12th place. In their last game, Southampton battled from behind to take a first half lead against Crystal Palace but that ended 2-2. It means Southampton have now failed to win in any of their last six matches. They’ve been poor defensively and the fact that they have an emergency keeper as they deal with injuries hasn’t favored them much. Southampton have conceded two or more goals in five of their last six though they’ve failed to score in just two of them. In those six matches, they’ve shipped in 14 goals and scored six. Five of the six matches have produced over 2.5 goals.

Brentford did not have any midweek activity after their home match against Manchester United was postponed. In their last outing, they came from behind to beat Watford 2-1 and will be looking to build on it when they travel to St. Mary’s. They’ve trailed and came back to earn points in three of their last five matches and their fighting spirit can’t be faulted. What can be faulted though, is their defending, having conceded two or more in three of the last five matches. They have just one clean sheet in the last five matches, and two wins in that run gives them an edge over Southampton. A good attack has seen them fail to score in just one of the last five matches; they have scored two or more in three of the five. Three of their last five matches have also borne over 2.5 goals.
