Southampton vs Blackburn Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

Southampton will welcome Blackburn Rovers on Saturday for round 21 of the English Championship. The hosts are currently fourth in the standings while Blackburn are down in ninth. This will be the first meeting between these two sides in 18 years. Southampton haven’t lost in 13 league outings and this is the longest unbeaten streak this season. Eight of their 11 victories have come in this stretch with five of those coming at their St. Mary’s base. Russell Martin’s men however haven’t won in their last two games. Both matches have come away from home and have all ended in a 1-1 share of the spoils. The latest was against Coventry. Getting back to winning ways here could move the Saints up to third. They trail Leeds in third by two points after accumulating 39 themselves.

Blackburn Rovers are eight points behind Southampton but they are much closer to the playoff places. Jon Dahl Tomasson’s men are only two points adrift of the top six and will be eager to close this gap with this fixture. Blackburn are coming off a 2-1 victory over Bristol City that put to a stop a two-match losing run. The Riversiders have struggled with inconsistency this season and have lost 10 times which is the same number of games they have won. Half of their wins however have come away from home which should have them fancying their chances here.
