Arsenal start the weekend in fifth place just a point adrift of the all-important top four. They lost at home to Manchester United last week, despite an 'absolutely brilliant' performance according to their boss but had won their previous three league games. Away form has been a problem for them this season but they did win 1-0 at Burnley recently so hopefully that will be the start of some improved form for the Gunners. They have scored in their last four away league games which is a good sign. Southampton are 11th in the table and seven points above the relegation zone. They start a run of tough fixtures though and have Leicester, Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester United to play before the year ends. They have won three of their home league games with two wins in the last three against West Brom and Everton. Games against top sides haven't gone well for the Saints this season with losses to both Manchester clubs, Liverpool and Burnley. Goals are often a bit thin on the ground at Southampton apart from when facing the dodgy defences of West Ham and Everton. Nine of the last 12 home league games having had under 2.5 goals scored but they have conceded in five of the last six home league games. Arsenal should be strong enough to get an away win here.
