Southampton are coming from a heavy beating at home to Chelsea and next up they will be hosting Arsenal in the Premier League, both sides looking to rise from recent slumps. Southampton are placed 14th going into this game, with 36 points, and Arsenal are fifth on 54 points. The hosts aren’t in danger of relegation but going into this game winless in the last six is a big concern. They last won a league game in February, and coming into this, they have conceded 15 goals in just the last five league games. Four of their last five league matches have produced over 2.5 goals and they have failed to score in three of those. They are on three straight home losses in the league, in each of them, conceding two or more goals.

Arsenal are under serious pressure going into this game; they have dropped from the top four after losing three of their last four matches. This game should present them with a chance at recovery especially after losing to Crystal Palace and Brighton in the last two games. They have been poor defensively in the run up to this game, three times in the last four matches conceding two or more goals but they have two clean sheets in five. The Gunners have failed to score in two of their last five matches and will be hoping for a break here. Manager Mikel Arteta has a selection headache with injuries to key players. Kieran Tierney, Thomas Partey and Takehiro Tomiyasu remain sidelined and an attempt to shuffle in the last game, ended badly. Arsenal however have five wins in six away league matches and will be confident of recovering.
