South Korea will look to confirm their place in the knockout rounds of the AFC Asia Cup when they next take on Malaysia. This is the final match for both nations in Group E where after two matches Korea are second and Malaysia fourth. South Korea have picked up four points from their opening two games. Jurgen Klinsmann's men began the tournament with a convincing 3-1 victory over Bahrain. They would follow this up with a 2-2 draw with current group leaders Jordan whom they are tied on points. A second win could see them end the first hurdle as group winners. It however will most certainly confirm their place in the next round. Failure to win can also see them advance as one of the four best third-placed teams. The Tigers are two-time Asian champions but not since 1960 have they triumphed in the continent. They arrive for this match having not lost in 10 outings with seven of those matches ending in victory.

Malaysia have lost both of their matches in Group E and consequently have been eliminated from the competition with a game to spare. Pan-Gon Kim’s charges will now seek to exit the competition on a high. Malaysia were thumped 4-0 on matchday one by Jordan. Though they still did lose their next game, the Malayan Tigers were much better against Bahrain and lost by a solitary goal. Malaysia are still yet to score in the competition. They were returning to the continental stage for the first time since 2007. In that tournament, in which they were joint hosts, Malaysia were eliminated from the group stage without earning a single point. They continue to wait for their first-ever knockout appearance. Malaysia haven't won in their last three fixtures.
