South Africa will be looking to hold on top spot in Group G when they host Ethiopia on Tuesday, just days after claiming a 3-1 win over them in Addis Ababa. The two nations face off separated by four points, South Africa on seven and third placed Ethiopia on three points. The win away in Ethiopia was South Africa’s third in five matches and they are unbeaten in that run. They have four clan sheets in the five matches and the only goal they have conceded in that period was against Ethiopia. In four of their last 10 games, South Africa have scored three or more goals and they head to this game with seven straight clean sheets at home. They have also done well at home in World Cup qualifiers, winning five of seven.

Ethiopia on the other hand, have two losses in their last three matches and will go into this clash as the underdogs. They haven’t really done well away from home and going to this game, they have four straight losses in their travels. This is a key game in their quest to advance to the next stage of the qualifiers and they will need to improve in attack, having failed to score in three of the last four away matches. Ethiopia have lost four of five away matches in World Cup qualification and return zero clean sheets in all five. This isn’t their first game in World Cup qualifiers in South Africa; in 2012, they forced a 1-1 draw and here they’ll be looking to improve on that. However, they have just three clean sheets in their last 14 matches in World Cup qualifiers and this will be a big problem.
