South Africa - DR Congo: Form Analysis
South Africa advanced to the semi-finals after a gripping encounter with Cape Verde, which ended in a goalless draw during normal time. In the subsequent penalty shootout, Hugo Broos' side emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline. Mamelodi Sundowns captain Ronwen Williams shone during the penalty kicks, making an outstanding four saves out of five, ensuring South Africa's progression to the semi-finals. That marked the first time that a goalkeeper saved four penalties in any FIFA competition. Bafana Bafana also lost their first match in the competition, defeated 2-0 by Mali. However, they clinched second spot in the Group with a 4-0 win over Namibia and held Tunisia to a 0-0. That was before sending tournament favourites Morocco packing with a 2-0 win in the Round of 16. Following Williams’ heroics in the quarter-final, South Africa were beaten in the last four by the Super Eagles on penalties after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time. While Bafana Bafana are unbeaten in their last two against this opponent, they are the outsiders heading into this match, according to the bookmakers.
Meanwhile, DR Congo got to the quarter-final of this competition without managing to win a single of their first four matches. They kicked off their AFCON campaign with back-to-back draws against Zambia and DR Congo before playing out a stalemate with Tanzania in their final group-stage match. That was enough to earn them the second spot in Group F behind Morocco, sending them into the Round of 16 against Egypt. The Leopards drew 1-1 again but managed to overcome the Pharaohs on penalties against the odds. Only after making it to the last eight did DR Congo manage to win a match in this competition, beating Guinea 3-1 before losing 1-0 to the host nation Ivory Coast on Wednesday evening. With that, the Leopards have now only won two of their last 13 matches in all competitions in regulation time while drawing seven and losing four.

South Africa & DR Congo Squad Analysis
South Africa will be without the services of Thapelo Maseko, who will be sidelined for this match due to injury, while Grant Kekana is suspended, which will likely see Siyanda Xulu return to the starting 11. Considering the context of the match, Hugo Broos might opt for some rotation in the squad for this upcoming fixture, which could open the door for the likes of Zakhele Lepasa, Terrence Mashego, and Nyiko Mobbie to return to the starting lineup.
Gael Kakuta was a doubt for DR Congo’s semi-final against the Ivory Coast and, despite featuring in the match, only played 45 minutes and is likely to be rotated for this one. Dylan Batubinsika, Fiston Mayele, and Braga attacker Simon Banza will all be pushing for a start here as well. Yoane Wissa is the team's leading scorer with two goals in the tournament, but he may opt to skip this match to avoid the risk of injury before returning to Brentford in the Premier League.

Our South Africa vs DR Congo Prediction
While the pressure is off, both these sides will want something to show for their hard work in this competition and will feel they have played well enough to go on to win this match. South Africa have relied heavily on their defence and are likely to prioritize keeping a clean sheet while looking to catch the more attacking DR Congo out on the counter-attack. This looks like a very level match on paper, and we feel that goals will be at a premium. Therefore, our South Africa vs DR Congo prediction: Under 3.5.
