South Africa leads 1-0 in their first round qualification tie against Comoros in the African Nations Championships (CHAN) qualifiers. They will be looking to complete the job when they host the island nation in the return leg. In their recent matches, South Africa have played in competitions featuring largely home-based players – the COSAFA Cup and the CHAN qualifiers. They go into this game unbeaten in three of those games; actually, they’ve won all three, and their only loss in the last four games featuring home based players cane on post-match penalties. South Africa have scored twice in two of the last four matches featuring home based players and they kept clean sheets in two.

Comoros’ have also played four straight games largely with home-based players and will keep the same here as they seek a place in the second round of qualifiers. They’ve suffered three losses in the four matches, in two of them, failing to score. In the said four matches, they have no clean sheet but they’ve managed to score three goals. Comoros’ only win in the four matches was against Seychelles, in the COSAFA Cup. They don’t really have a strong run in this competition, failing to score in each of the last four matches and winning just once in their last five matches – against Namibia.
