Andorra and South Africa will face off in an international friendly on Thursday night at Stade du 19 Mai 1956 in Annaba. The hosts are ranked 164th according to FIFA World Rankings, while the visitors are ranked 58th. Andorra have been steadily slipping in the world rankings over the last year. In April 2023, they were ranked inside the top 150, but owing to their poor UEFA European Championship Qualifying campaign, they have dropped by as many as 14 places in the last six months. During those qualifiers, the Tricolours ended bottom of Group I with just two points earned in ten matches, nine points behind second-bottom Kosovo. They come into this match off the back of five consecutive defeats, during which time they failed to score a single goal but conceded 13. The last time Andorra won a match was in September 2022 against Liechtenstein in the Nations League. The Tricolours are huge underdogs in this one. 

Meanwhile, South Africa will return to international action a little after a month since competing at the Africa Cup of Nations. During that competition, they defied expectations, as they entered the tournament as 12/1 outsiders but reached the semi-finals, where they were only narrowly beaten by Nigeria on penalties. Still, they went on to win the bronze medal, beating Congo DR in the third-place playoff match. With that performance, Bafana Bafana received a significant boost in their world ranking, moving up by as many as eight places to inside the top 60. They are now also ranked tenth in the CAF region. South Africa have not lost any of their last six matches in regulation time and kept five clean sheets in that period. As a result, they are heavily fancied to come out on top in this encounter.
