San Marino, the world’s lowest ranked nation in football will be traveling to Slovenia targeting a big upset in European Championship qualifiers. The two face off in Group H on Match Day 2 with Slovenia joint top on three points and San Marino bottom without a point. In some way, this is a massive mismatch, as Slovenia are enjoying a good run of form, which places them as outright favorites. Slovenia came from a goal down to beat Kazakhstan 2-1 away from home on Match Day 1 and they have now gone unbeaten in their last seven matches. In the last five games, Slovenia have four wins and in three of the five matches, they have scored twice, while keeping one clean sheet in five. Three of their last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals. Each of their four wins ahead of this game have been by one-goal margins.

San Marino started their race for qualification to the 2024 Euros with a 2-0 loss at home to Northern Ireland. They are still in search of their first ever competitive win, and their scoring returns don’t look great either. Coming into this game, San Marino have no win in their last 72 matches. In European Championship qualifiers, they’ve lost each of the last 17 and they have scored just one goal in their last 13. Their away run in this competition has been even poorer, San Marino failing to score in the last six, and conceding at least four goals in each of the last six matches.
