Slough Town vs Grimsby Town Prediction & Betting Tips - FA Cup

In their first FA Cup proper match for the first time since 2018-19, National League side Slough Town will face League Two team Grimsby Town. This first round match will be played at Arbour Park on Sunday. Slough are in their first appearance of this competition proper since 2018-19, when they reached the second round. Recent form hasn’t been enterprising, but the hosts will hope to make the occasion memorable. They have lost only one of their last nine matches in all competitions, but only two of those have seen them win while six were draws. The tricky aspect is to face a Football League side as Slough won just two of their last 19 such matches, drawing five and losing 12.
Grimsby may be buoyed by that poor record of Slough against League sides, but their own record has been patchy. The visitors have lost three of their last four FA Cup matches against non-league sides, winning just one. Recent form doesn’t augur well either, as they lost their last five competitive matches in a row. In fact, with only 14 points from their 16 matches in this season, Grimsby find themselves just four points above the bottom-two sides that would be relegated. While that is a challenge, Grimsby will hope to get inspired by their last year FA Cup run, where they reached the quarter-finals. If they can win here, it would mark the first time since 1990 that they have reached the FA Cup second round in consecutive seasons.
