Week two in Group G of the Europa League will see Slavia Prague take on FC Sheriff on Thursday evening. The hosts are in pole position in the standings after the first week, while the visitors are third and yet to register a point in the competition. Slavia Prague missed out on a Champions League qualifier spot by the slenderest of margins. They finished last season level on points with Sparta Prague but were beaten on the head-to-head ruling. However, they seem to have put that disappointment behind them and are looking very good this term. The hosts played out a 0-0 draw against Teplice over the weekend, which kept their unbeaten league record this season intact. The Red and Whites have now won seven and drawn three of their ten First League games and are two points behind the current league leaders. The only loss in any competition they have conceded this season was in their second-leg qualifier to Zorya. Notably, Slavia have been very good in defence in recent weeks, keeping four clean sheets in their last five matches. As a result, the bookmakers have them as the clear favourites to win this match. 

Meanwhile, Sheriff are looking pretty impressive this season as well. They recorded a solid 4-0 win over CSF Balti last weekend, which keeps them joint-top of the Super Liga standings. That was also their fourth win in their last five matches. The only loss they incurred in that time was against Roma in week one of this competition. The Wasps are comfortably the highest-scoring team in their domestic league this season, already on 18 goals and averaging over two returns per game. However, while Sheriff’s recent record has been impressive, their away form has been less so. In their last four matches on the road, the visitors have won just one while drawing two and losing one. Notably, those two draws were during qualification for this competition against BATE and KI.
