Shrewsbury Town vs Oxford United Prediction & Betting Tips - League One
by Steve Ashfield | in League One Predictions
Shrewsbury Town lost ground in the battle to win automatic promotion to the Championship when losing 3-1 at Rochdale on Friday. Their chief rivals Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers both won their last game and they now fill the top two spots in League One. Shrewsbury are third a point behind Blackburn and two behind Wigan but have played a game more than Blackburn and two more than top of the table Wigan. They can't afford to drop any more points and will need to get a win at home to relegation threatened Oxford United. Their loss at in-form Rochdale ended a run of seven league games without a defeat. They are three league games at home without a loss and kept clean sheets in the last two. Defence on home territory is strong with only ten conceded in 18 home league games.
Oxford United haven't got quite such an impressive defensive record with 58 goals conceded in 38 games and only four sides in the division have let in more. They are six points clear of the relegation zone but have played a game more than 21st placed Oldham Athletic who they play next weekend. Oxford have only one win in their last eight league matches and on their travels have one win in their last ten with just one point from the last four. This looks a tough game for United who have already lost nine away league games this season and the sugested bet here is for a Shrewsbury home win.
