Shrewsbury Town vs Exeter City Prediction & Betting Tips - League One

The Shrews face the Grecians in League One action in a rare Thursday night game as Shrewsbury Town host Exeter City. What will our match prediction be for this clash between two teams with contrasting form since the start of the season?

Home side Shrewsbury Town have had a stuttering start under manager Paul Hurst. Currently lying 21st in the table and having played at least one, if not two games more than most of the other League One teams, they have picked up eight points from their eleven games so far.

Defensively, the Shrews have struggled, conceding 20 goals, the second highest number in the division. But on a more positive note, they did end a run of seven games without a win in all competitions when they defeated 10-man Crawley Town 5-3 away from home last weekend. That contrasts with their poor home form, where they have failed to score in four of the last five games at the New Meadow.

Gary Caldwell’s Exeter City have enjoyed a much more positive start to the campaign. The Grecians lie seventh in the table, outside the playoff spots by goal difference alone and have picked up 16 points from their nine games so far. 

Their success has been built upon a strong defence which has conceded just six goals in the league so far, the second best record in the division. Though they have scored just ten going forward.

They are also in impressive form, winning four and drawing one of their last five which included two consecutive 1-0 wins away to Leyton Orient and then at home to Cambridge. They did not play last weekend as their game with Mansfield Town was postponed.
