Sheriff Tiraspol vs BATE Borisov Prediction & Betting Tips - Europa League

Sheriff Tiraspol will host BATE Borisov on Thursday as the two continue their continental duties in the UEFA Europa League. This will be the first leg of this third-round qualifying tie with BATE hosting the return leg next week. Sheriff Tiraspol have dropped down to the Europa League after being eliminated from the Champions League in the second round of qualifying. The Moldovan giants were defeated 4-2 on aggregate by Maccabi Haifa after they were unable to hold on to their first-leg advantage. They won the first leg 1-0 at home and will hope to be more decisive here. Roberto Bordin’s charges have been in good form but their last two defeats have come in continental football. Fortunately for them, none has come when they have been at home. In front of home support, Zholto-Chornyye have been dominant. They are currently unbeaten in 11 matches at home with nine of those ending in victory. Their latest victory however came away from home as they defeated Petrocub 1-0 in the Super Lig.

BATE Borisov are also in the Europa League after dropping down from the Champions League. The Belarussian heavyweights were humbled by Aris Limassol as they lost their tie 11-5 on aggregate. They lost the first leg away 6-2 before another heavy 5-3 defeat in the return match at home. Zholto-Sinie will hope to quickly put this behind them and come up with a result here. BATE haven’t played a match since losing to Aris more than a week ago. Kirill Alshevskiy’s charges had gone five matches without defeat before they played Aris. Four of those fixtures had ended in victory with one win coming in Europe. BATE have gone unbeaten in three of their last four away fixtures and have won twice. Considering that they are also unbeaten against Sheriff, they will arrive for this match optimistic of success. BATE and Sheriff first met in the group stages of the 2010/11 Europa League campaign with the former winning both encounters.
