Sheffield Wednesday vs QPR Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship
by Donal Kearns | in Championship Predictions
Despite missing out on the top six, Sheffield Wednesday are rallying towards the end of the season. Their campaign hasn’t been improved by seeing their rivals Sheffield United gain promotion to the Premier League, but the Owls will have similarly lofty ambitions next season. That wasn’t what we expected for them a few months ago, but the arrival of Steve Bruce has galvanised this side, so they’ll be out for a positive end to the season. Will they be able to claim three points at home to QPR on the final day? The Owls have made great strides since Steve Bruce was announced as manager, while he took some time to arrive at the club. However, his assistants made early waves by improving them at the back, which has made Sheffield Wednesday one of the toughest sides to beat in the league. In fact, since Bruce took over, the Owls have only been beaten twice – against the two front-runners for playoff glory. They’ve been in excellent shape, seeing off some strong sides, so we expect a positive finish for Wednesday.
Meanwhile, QPR are having a very different season. They hit form under Steve McClaren for a short while, which was just enough to save them from relegation this term. A dreadful 2019 has left them in 19th place, they’re set to finish the season with fewer than 50 points as it stands. The Rs just haven’t been good enough since the turn of the year. When you pair that with an awful start that had people predicting they were bound for League One, this season has pretty much been a write off for the visitors. Things aren’t getting any better for the Rs, even after getting rid of Steve McLaren. They’ve lost three games on the bounce, losing four and drawing one of six matches since he was sacked. That’s left them perilously close to the drop zone, while they are facing the prospect of another defeat on Sunday. They head to Sheffield with 12 defeats in their 22 away trips this season.

Our Sheffield Wednesday vs QPR Prediction
QPR have lost 14 league games in 2019, which is damning given that those defeats have come in their last 19 Championship matches. They’ve got a terrible record, while they face a Wednesday side who are in a great place after three strong months of progression. The hosts have won five of their last seven at home, including back to back wins over Nottingham Forest and Bristol City. They should be good for a win here, so we’re backing the Owls to secure three points this weekend. They are rated to win at 1.8 with Unibet.
