Sheffield Wednesday vs Bristol City Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

Gamweek 34 in the Championship will see Sheffield Wednesday square off against Bristol City on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are currently second bottom in the league standings, while the visitors are 12th. Sheffield Wednesday’s return to the Championship has not gone as they would have hoped as yet. They are now in real danger of heading straight back down to League One unless major improvements can be made from now until the end of the campaign. Wednesday are currently languishing in the drop zone with 29 points after 33 games. They did, however, manage to cut the gap to four points to safety, beating 21st-placed Millwall 2-0 on the road last week. That was just their eighth win of the campaign, while they have also drawn five and lost 20 - the joint most defeats of any side in the division. The hosts have earned the majority of their points at home this season (19) and are unbeaten in their last three in all competitions. However, they were beaten by this opponent 1-0 in the reverse fixture back in November and have failed to beat them in their last three attempts. 

Meanwhile, Bristol City were bitterly unlucky to be knocked out of the FA Cup earlier this month after going toe-to-toe with Premier League opponents Nottingham Forest over two legs. They bounced back from that disappointment well, though, notching consecutive league wins over Middlesbrough and Southampton but ran out of steam last week at home to Queens Park Rangers, who snatched a 1-0 win. That result has left The Robins on 44 points in a very tightly compact mid-table, where a win could take them up two spots in the standings, while a defeat could result in them dropping as low as 14th. The visitors have a record of five wins, five draws and six losses in 16 away games this season and have lost just one of their last five on the road. Despite their good record in this fixture, Bristol are the bookmakers' underdog in this one.
