Sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday caused a big upset last week when winning at Leeds United. They set out this week to follow that win up with a home victory over Blackburn who are 13th in the table. Wednesday are in the final promotion play-off position but only on goal difference from Swansea City in seventh. The Yorkshire club had a good November and December with a six-game unbeaten run in the Championship but then it went wrong after Christmas with three losses in a week. 2020 has got off to a much better start though with a win at Brighton in the FA Cup and then going to league leaders Leeds last weekend and coming away with a 2-0 win. Wednesday had been unbeaten in eight home league games before that festive nightmare.
Blackburn Rovers are in poor form at present but still have a chance of getting into the play-offs. They may be 13th but are the same number of points above the relegation zone and only five behind their opponents in this game. However, they have gone six league and cup games without a victory. Blackburn have drawn three of their last five league matches but the other two were lost and both played away from home. Their away form has seen Rovers lose six of thieir last nine away league games with only two victories. Go for a revitalised Wednesday to win this match.
