Sheffield United are eighth in the Premier League and now seven points behind the final Champions League place. They host West Ham United who are 16th and beat Bournemouth in their first league game since the arrival of David Moyes. United had a poor festive season but it was a difficult fixture list with away defeats at both Manchester City and Liverpool. Before those two losses, they were held to a 1-1 home draw by resurgent Watford. It's an important period for United as despite their good start to the season, they are only nine points above the relegation zone. This game is followed by fixtures against Arsenal and Manchester City so some points on Friday would be helpful. Home form has seen United win four and lose four with an average of just 2.2 goals per game. Seven out of ten at home have had under 2.5 goals scored and 16 of 21 overall.
West Ham United will be hoping for a better second half of the season. Their inconsistency eventually led to the sacking of Manuel Pellegrini just before Christmas. As seems to be the case so many times, the sacking was followed by a quick appointment and a convincing 4-0 home win over Bournemouth. A 2-0 win at Gillingham in the FA Cup followed as the return of David Moyes has sparked a revival. They are now two points clear of the bottom three and only seven points behind their opponents. Only two of their last eight away league games have been won and of those five have had under 2.5 goals scored in them. With West Ham still to prove their improvement also applies to away form in the Premier League and the Blades struggling for goals, a bet on under 2.5 goals is the suggested bet.
