Both of these clubs began the festive period with a good win. Sheffield United moved up to fifth (sixth if Spurs beat Chelsea) and host Watford who are still bottom despite that win over Manchester United. Only the most optimistic of United fans would have dreamed they would be chasing a Champions League place at Christmas. Their win at Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday has left them only a point behind fourth place (that's before the Spurs v Chelsea game). United have won seven league games and each of the last three. Home form is a bit inconsistent though with four wins, a draw and four defeats. Those nine home league games have only seen 20 goals scored and 13 out of 18 overall have had under 2.5 goals scored in them.

Watford are bottom of the table but received a massive pre-Christmas boost with a 2-0 home win over Manchester United. That finally got them into double figures as far as both points and goals are concerned. They have only lost one of their last three league games but are still six points from safety. Watford have only won one away league game this season and that was at 19th placed Norwich City. Their last three away league games have all been lost with only five goals scored. 11 of their 18 league games have had under 2.5 goals scored in them and that's the suggested bet for this fixture.
