Sheffield United have slipped to eighth in the Premier League after two straight defeats. They host Tottenham who are a place and a point above them with both sides desperate for the three points. It's all gone a bit wrong for United since the season resumed. They drew at Aston Villa and then lost at Newcastle and Manchester United, all without scoring a goal. Sunday saw them lose to Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter-finals so they need to arrest this slump in fom. After the weekend matches, The Blades are five points behind sixth place but that will become eight if Manchester United win at Brighton and Hove Albiion on Tuesday. Seventh looks like being enough to get into the Europa League as long as Arsenal don't win the FA Cup and finish outside the top seven. United have only won one of their last five league games and that was against bottom-of-the-table Norwich City. Seven of their last eight home league games have seen under 2.5 goals scored in them. They have won seven home league games this season but lost five. However, in the last seven at home, only Manchester City have come away with a win.

Tottenham/s hopes of Champions League football aren't looking that good. They are nine points behind fourth placed Chelsea. Even if fifth was to see qualification guaranteed, they are still seven points adrift but with a game in hand. Spurs are unbeaten in their last three league games but two had been draws before getting a 2-0 home win over West Ham United last week. If they are to get into the Champions League places, they will need to keep winning, a drop in form might even see them without a place in European competition next season. Away form for Tottenham has been poor this season with only three away wins from 15 league games. Only one of the last six has been won and that's just not good enough.
