After a very poor run in the first half of the season, each game in the second is crucial for Sheffield United. Their next, a home game against fellow strugglers West Bromwich Albion is very key in their survival battle. Sheffield are rock bottom in the standings, with eight points while West Brom are just above them, in 19th place with 12 points. In their last match, Sheffield put in a good show but still fell short against Manchester City, losing 1-0. The Blades are having their best run of the season, having won four of the last six matches. Two of these are in the FA Cup and after their setback at the Etihad, they will be hoping to bounce back. The biggest impediment in their season has been a lack of clean sheets – in the 24 matches played this season, they have just one clean sheet. In their last six matches, Sheffield have only failed to score in the game against City and four of their last six matches have had over 2.5 goals. They have two wins in their last three home matches and will be hoping to narrow the existing four-point gap between them and West Brom.

West Brom failed to hold on to a 2-1 lead after rising from a goal down against Fulham, drawing 2-2 in their match on Saturday. Playing back to back against sides in the relegation zone should have offered them an advantage but the first was spurned. Now they have to strategize well for Sheffield. West Brom have four losses in the last six matches and have won just once in the process. Their recent matches have been high scoring, with the Baggies conceding more. Each of the last seven games has seen three or more goals scored. The team has scored eight and conceded 22 in that run. In the last five matches, Matheus Pereira has scored five of the eight goals for the team. Just like Sheffield, the visitors have not managed a lot of clean sheets this season; in the 24 matches played, they have just three. They have failed to score in just one of the last five matches. Away from home, West Brom have six losses and only one win in the 10 league matches played this season. No clean sheet has come from the 10 matches as well and both sides have scored in seven.
