Sheffield United recovered well last weekend to end a run of four league games with a win. Their win at Norwich took them to eighth in the table and they look for another win at home to 17th placed Aston Villa. Both of these teams won promotion from the Championship last season but it is United who have made the best start in the Premier League. United have seven more points than their opponents and are only two points off the Europa League place. They had slipped slightly with a run of three draws and a defeat and then went a goal down at Norwich last weekend. Two goals in three second half minutes got them in front, a result that would have been appreciated by fellow relegation strugglers Aston Villa. Sheffield United have won three home games but lost four. Four of their last five league games have seen both teams score.

Aston Villa spent over £100m during the summer as they prepared for life back in the Premier League. It hasn't quite gone to plan though and they are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference going into this weekend. They were well beaten by Leicester City last weekend, their third loss in the last five league matches. They have scored 23 league goals but conceded 28, perhaps another defender or two might be on their way in the January transfer window. Away form hasn't been good all season with just four points from eight games, the only win being at Norwich City. They have some vital games coming up before the end of the year with an EFL quarter final against Liverpool  followed by successive games against the other three teams in the present bottom four. Nine of their last 11 games have seen both teams score and that is a stat likely to come up in this match.
