Sevilla begin this game in sixth place in La Liga.  A home win over fourth placed Villarreal will take them into that final Champions League quaification place. Sevilla are unbeaten in their last three league games with away wins at Getafe and Valencia. The other saw them held to a 1-1 home draw with Real Valladolid, who equalized with three minutes to go. They have only one loss in their last seven league matches, a 1-0 home loss to Real Madrid. It took an own goal to get the visitors the win in that game. Home form has seen Sevilla win three of their six La Liga fixtures with a draw and two losses. Not that may goals being scored though with just 12 in six games, seven by Sevilla. Half of those 12 games were scored in the 4-2 win over Celta Vigo. That's the only game in the last 12 Sevilla home league games that has had over 2.5 goals scored in it. Only two of the last five on home soil has been won though and that's a record that needs improving.

Villarreal have only lost one of their 15 league games this season. The trouble is that eight of those matches have ended level. They are six points behind the league leaders but after this match will have played three games more than Atletico Madrid. Villarreal would be a lot closer to the top if they hadn't drawn five of their last six league fixtures. Four of those have ended in a 1-1 final scoreline. Two of those games saw Villarreal give away a lead. Away form has seen them win two, draw four and lose at Barcelona. They've scored eight goals and conceded the same number (half at Barcelona). Of their own eight away goals, six came in the two wins at Getafe and Osasuna, so that's just two goals they've scored in the other four and one of those was a penalty.
