After claiming a huge win away at Mallorca, Jorge Sampaoli’s men begin the long journey towards rejuvenation with a match-up against always challenging Valencia next on the cards. Sevilla managed to get just their second win of the season on Saturday evening, moving out of the relegation zone to thirteenth place. The numbers are bleak however, and paint in full the torrid picture of Sevilla this campaign: just two wins in thirteen games and eleven of those conceding. On the upside, Sevilla are much more positive under the Argentinian, who is unbeaten so far in his second stint as Sevilla coach, with the hosts also boasting a great tradition against Valencia, whom they have beaten in their last four games at the Sanchez Pizjuan. 

Gennaro Gattuso’s Valencia have been inconsistent to say the least. To give an indication of the said inconsistency, Valencia’s last eight games have featured three wins, three losses and two draws. The only certain in their games so far has been the presence of goals, in both ends of the pitch. All of the visitors’ last six games have seen Over 2.5 goals scored, while five of those also featured both teams scoring. It is indicative that Valencia boast the fourth best attack in the league, yet as their latest draw against Elche demonstrated, it is their defensive fragility that is keeping them behind. The Bats have not been exemplary away from home either. They have lost three of their last five on the road, winning just one of their last seven. On top of that, they have certainly not enjoyed their most recent trips to Sevilla, losing four on the spin there and failing to score in three of those.
