Sevilla vs Roma Prediction & Betting Tips - Europa League
by Steve Ashfield | in Europa League Predictions
There's something about the Europa League that Sevilla absolutely loves. They take on Roma in this season's final on Wednesday May 31st bidding to win Europe's second most important club competition for the seventh time. They still have an outside chance of European qualification for next season. However, winning this match will take them into the Champions League. The Lugi begins Italy's bid to win all three European competitions this season. Last term saw Jose Mourinho's side win the Europa Conference League. Now they have the Europa League in their sights and like Sevilla, it's their only chance of making it into the 2023/24 Champions League after some poor results in Serie A. The fact that Roma left out several players for the Serie A game against Fiorentina shows just how important Mourinho is treating this final.

Sevilla - Roma: Form Analysis
Seviila are 11th in La Liga but with one game remaining, they are only a point behind European qualification. A bit like West Ham United, Sevilla have been getting better results in the Europa League than in La Liga. They had been in a relegation battle earlier in the season but have recovered well in recent months. A form guide for the last 15 La Liga matches has them in sixth place. Recent results haven't gone so well though and none of their last three league games have been won. Their most recent match was a 2-1 home loss to Real Madrid. Early season also saw Sevilla only finish third in their Champions League group. Moved into their favorite Europa League, they have had wins over PSV, Fenerbahce, Manchester United and Juventus. They are unbeaten in their last four matches but did need extra time to get past Juventus in the last four. That away form in this competition must be a worry for them though. Even when they got a 2-2 draw at Manchester United in the last eight, the two goals scored were both courtesy of the opposition who were then trounced in the away second leg.
Roma also lost their final match before this Europa League final. They lost 2-1 at Fiorentina and that's left them in sixth place and with no chance of a top four finish. Their current league position takes them into next season's Europa League. They could yet finish seventh and end up in the Europa Conference League that they won last season. Roma aren't in great form at present with only one win in their last nine matches in all competitions. That victory was the 1-0 win the Giallorossi had over Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg of their semi-final. They drew the away second leg 0-0 and they drew three of their last four matches. Three of their last four matches have all been drawn. Away form has been a problem for the club with only a win at Torino in their last 13 games.

Sevilla & Roma Squad Analysis
Sevilla will have Yassine Bounou in goal for this Europa League final. He's been playing in the recent games in this competition. Suso and Joan Jordan have recovered from the injuries thay have recently suffered. There are injury doubts over Marcao and Tanguy Nianzou. Definitely not playing will be Marcos Acuna who is out through suspension.
Roma will have striker Paulo Dybala fit for this final against Sevilla. He's been struggling with an ankle injury since last month but he is likely to appear at some stage in this final, even if only coming on as a substitute. Also expected to be fit is Leonardo Spinazzola who is back in training. They will be without Rick Karsdorg and Marash Kumbulla. Roma played an under-strength line-up against Fiorentina at the weekend. Those players who were rested will be back for this game against Sevilla. That will include their captain Lorenzo Pellegrini, Nemanja Matic and Rui Patricio.

Our Sevilla vs Roma Prediction
If either of these two clubs want to be in the Champions League next season, they have to win this match. Sevilla have had an inconsistent season and may well finish out of the top ten in La Liga. They still have a very outside chance of European football next season but a win here will see them in Europe's top club competition again. They seem to come alive in the Europa League, though their success this season has been down to their home record. They haven't been firing on all cylinders on their travels in the Europa League this season. Losses were incurred away to both PSV and Fenerbahce. As for the trip to Old Trafford, they only got away with a 2-2 draw from their opponents. Roma have seen their form slump in recent weeks and a top four finish in Serie A won't be achieved. They are likely to be in the Europa League again next season but could yet end up playing in the Conference League. Jose Mourinho knows how to win a European final though and a Roma success can't be ruled out. Looking at current form though, our Sevilla v Roma prediction is for the game to end in a draw after 90 minutes.
