Sevilla’s form has taken a drop at the wrong time of the season, and as they prepare for a clash at home against Real Sociedad they’ll be looking to start a much more stable run. The visiting team, Real Sociedad goes into this game with 47 points and in sixth place while Sevilla are second on 56 points. Sevilla are coming from an away match in the Europa League, against West Ham United in England. They lost that game 2-0 and were forced to play 120 minutes, which will be an issue for them facing a side that had a week devoid of midweek engagements. That loss marked the second game in four that Sevilla failed to score but the first in five for them to concede more than a goal. They are unbeaten in the last 14 La Liga matches but they’ve really lost crucial ground on league leaders Real Madrid. In the last eight league matches, they’ve drawn six and going to this game they are 10 points behind Real Madrid. They however have a 15-game unbeaten run at home in the league and haven’t lost to Real Sociedad in eight meetings.

Real Sociedad have registered some improvement in their recent matches and will go into this game looking to win and rise to fifth place. Their top four ambition is well intact, being just four points behind fourth placed Atletico Madrid. In their last four matches Sociedad have registered three wins and as many clean sheets. They have scored in each of their last five matches and in the last seven they’ve failed to score in just one. The visitors have only scored more than one goal in one of their last six matches but they’ve conceded more than one three times in those six matches. For Real Sociedad the biggest headache will be on their performance in away matches. In the last seven away  matches in La Liga, they have only one win and have failed to score in four of those seven matches. They’ve lost four of these seven away matches in the league.
