Sevilla will open their Champions League campaign with a home game against Lens in group B this Wednesday. The two sides will aim at a good start in a group that also has Arsenal and PSV. Coming into this game, Sevilla ended their poor start to the season with a 1-0 win over Las Palmas. The win was Sevilla’s first in five matches, a run in which they had posted three losses. It was also their first clean sheet of the season but they should be happy with their attack thus far. The hosts have scored in each of their five matches this season, three ending in over 2.5 goals. Both sides have basically scored in four of Sevilla’s last five matches. The Spaniards have managed more than a goal in just one of the five matches. In three of their five matches they have conceded two or more goals. Sevilla are here courtesy of winning the Europa League title last season. For Lens, this will only be the second time they are taking part in the Champions League. they are making a return after more than two decades out. Their last participation in this competition was way back in 2002 when they managed two wins in six group games. Both sides scored in all their matches back then, and they also faced a Spanish side – Deportivo La Coruna. Heading to this game, the French side will hope to instill a better run into their season. They have no win in their opening five matches, four of them having ended in losses. The visitors are a pale shadow of the team that finished as runners up, just a point behind PSG. In their most recent game, they were beaten 1-0 by Metz, making it two straight matches without scoring. That loss was also their fourth in five league matches, leaving them bottom of the Ligue 1 standings. In three of their last five matches both teams scored. They’ve conceded three times in three of their last five matches.
