Serbia and Montenegro are separated by just two points ahead of their clash as they continue to battle for European Championship qualification. This Group G match of the Euro qualifiers will be played at the Red Star Stadium in Belgrade on Tuesday with the hosts second on ten points and the visitors third on eight with a game in hand. Serbia are coming off a 2-1 loss to Hungary that left them vulnerable in the race for top-two spots in the group. That was their second loss to Hungary by the same score in this qualification campaign. Interestingly, those two losses have come across their last three matches and added with a 1-1 draw to Bulgaria, they have now won just one of their last four Euro qualifiers. A loss or even drop of points is not acceptable at this stage and even their home form is dicey at the moment – three defeats, one draw and just two wins across their last six home Euro qualifiers.

Montenegro are coming off a 3-2 win over Lebanon in a friendly that followed a 2-1 win over Bulgaria in the European qualifiers. The visitors have lost the reverse fixture 2-0 but have since gone from strength to strength. They are a much-improved side now, having gone unbeaten in the qualifiers since then – two draws and a win. With matches against Hungary and Lithuania remaining, a draw here could put them in the race for a top-two finish. The challenge for the visitors would be to find some form on the road as they lost nine of their last 14 away European qualifiers, drawing three and winning only two.
