Serbia and Hungary booked places in the playoff finals of the 2021 European Championships in midweek and will now be turning their focus on their Nations League campaigns. On Match Day 3 of the Nations League, Serbia hosts Hungary in Group 3 of League B with Serbia seeking a first win after collecting just one point from the opening two games. Meanwhile, Hungary, placed second, have three points from their opening two matches and will be seeking recovery from the 3-2 loss to Russia on Match Day 2. They however held on for a point, and they should be in better spirits after beating Norway 2-1 in their most recent match. That win earned Serbia a place in the Euro Championships playoff final where they will face Scotland, seeking a place in the Euro 2021 finals. To beat Norway, Serbia had to do it the hard way, winning in extra time after conceding the equalizer in the 88th minute. Sergej Milinkovic was the hero with a brace and he will be key for this Nations League clash. The win over Norway marked a break from a run that had seen Serbia go winless in three matches but they have just one loss in the last eight matches. Serbia have two clean sheets in their last 15 matches and that will be a major area of concern as they face Hungary for the first time ever in their history. Having scored in nine of their last 10 matches, they may target scoring more than their opponents to carry them to their first win in the group.

At home, the Serbs are unbeaten in their last four matches, winning two and drawing their most recent two. They have lost once in the last nine home matches and scored two or more in seven of the nine matches. Of the total six matches they have played in the Nations League since the inaugural competition, Serbia have lost one and won three while keeping three clean sheets. They don’t have a loss in their four home matches in the Nations League. Hungary will also head to this match on a high, right after booking their place in the Euro Championships playoff final after beating Bulgaria 3-1 on Thursday. In the win, Hungary were always in control, leading 3-0 before their hosts scored the consolation goal. Now Hungary have to carry this form to the Nations League, with back to back games on the cards before they take on Iceland in the playoff final. While they won their opening group game in the Nations League, Hungary’s run in recent times has been patchy. They have two clean sheets, six losses and three wins in their last nine matches. Hungary have not scored more than one goal in eight of their last 10 matches, while they have conceded two or more in six of the 10. Away from home, Hungary have won each of their last two, beating Turkey and most recently Bulgaria. They will be seeking a third straight away win, to improve on their away run that so far has three wins and 10 losses in the last 15.
