Senegal vs Benin Prediction & Betting Tips - AFCON

Senegal won their first African Cup of Nations title in the last edition, and their defence of this title starts in June in the qualifiers for the next competition. The African champions are pooled in Group L, and will be up against Benin, Mozambique and Rwanda. They start the qualifiers at home against Benin and they’ll be looking to extend their rich form that has seen them go unbeaten in 15 matches. One of their strongest points is in defence; in their last 10 matches they have seven clean sheets. In attack, Senegal are well endowed too, led by Liverpool forward Sadio Mane who has been in great form lately and also played a key part in the team’s recent successes. Senegal are unbeaten in their last 20 matches in AFCON qualification, while at home, they haven’t lost in the last 12 in this competition.

Benin do not have a as strong a run as Senegal’s going into this game though they have only lost once in the last five matches. They’ve beaten Madagascar, Liberia and Zambia in three of their last five matches but the task against Senegal will be tougher than all those. The fact that they have managed one clean sheet in their last four matches points to a harder task ahead, but it will bother Benin more that they haven’t scored in the last three AFCON qualification matches. They are coming from two straight losses in AFCON qualifiers and it is worse for them in away games, having failed to win in the last seven in AFCON qualification. Four times in the last six away matches in AFCON qualification, Benin have failed to score and four times in seven, they’ve conceded two or more goals.
