The Seattle Sounders host the Portland Timbers in a huge clash between the Concacaf Champions League winners and the MLS Cup finalists. Seattle are undergoing a very good patch of form at the moment. They managed an impressive away win and clean sheet against Toronto last time out, making it four wins in their last six games. The win also extended the hosts’ impressive scoring streak, with Seattle scoring in each of their last six and drawing just one blank in their last ten. Their record is equally impressive at the Lumen Field, where the home team have only lost to Montreal in normal time in their last ten games. They also tend to be quite free-scoring at home, scoring at least two in four of their last six and five of those games featuring Over 2.5 goals.
The Timbers are not doing bad either. Their draw against Nashville extended their unbeaten streak to four games, placing them in tenth place and just a three points away from the play-off places. They will need to tighten up however, as they have only kept one clean sheet in their last eleven games.However they have shown resilience in recent games. They came back from behind to rescue a point against Nashville and Dairon Aspirilla’s form, who hit his 20th career goal last time out, is definitely a source of optimism. The away side however will have to overcome their poor recent record on their travels, being winless in eight away from Portland and conceding in their last seven.
