The stop-start MLS season continues with Seattle Sounders hosting Los Angeles FC at CenturyLink Field this weekend. Both sides had their previous fixtures postponed after a decision by the league to boycott games in protest of further racial unrest in the USA. On the pitch, the Sounders enter this match second in the Western Conference table, four points behind leaders Sporting Kansas City with a game in hand. LAFC are fifth in the table, a further two points behind the Sounders. A series of postponements have kept the teams from playing regularly. The first fixtures that either played for the best part of a month took place last week with Seattle producing a convincing 3-0 win away to Portland Timbers. LAFC didn't fare as well, losing for the first time this season, 2-0 at home to city rivals LA Galaxy. It's been a slow start for LAFC when one considers that they topped the Western Conference in 2019 and took home the Supporters' Shield for the most points accumulated in the regular season. The Sounders finished 16 points behind LAFC in the conference but went on to win the coveted MLS Cup for the second time in their history.

The two clubs recently met in the MLS is Back tournament with LAFC waltzing to a 4-1 win over their rivals. While it was their first win in three games against Seattle, LAFC have had a stranglehold over this head-to-head, winning the previous three encounters. Seattle have been contesting humdingers of late with their last four matches featuring three or more goals. Given the goal bonanza that occurred on their last meeting, we see another high-scoring fixture this time around too. Back the visitors to win a thriller.
