The winner of the UEFA Women’s Nations League A Group 1 will be decided on the final day as fourth-place Scotland takes on second-placed England. The Lionesses pulled off a marvelous comeback in their most recent outing to keep their qualification hopes alive. A loss in their previous match would have seen the Dutch wrap up the top spot in the group. However, England battled back with a superb second-half performance which saw them overturn a two-goal first-half deficit. A quickfire double from Georgia Stanway and Lauren Hemp equalized the match at 2-2 in the 60th minute before Ella Toone’s 91st minute goal would secure a vital three points. The result pulled England level with the first place Netherlands, who they now trail solely on goal differential. The England women in all likelihood will have to win this match to win the group and advance to the Nations League final four. Should they and the Dutch both win, England will have to make up their goal differential disadvantage, which currently sits at Netherlands +4, England +1.

Scotland will only be playing for pride as they are locked into their fourth-place position and will be playing the next campaign in League B. They’ll be hoping to avoid going winless in the group stage but come into this match as heavy underdogs. It was always going to be a tough ask for Scotland given that they are the lowest-ranked team of the four in Group 1 at 23rd. The Tartan Army performed admirably in their two prior home matches, holding Belgium to a 1-1 draw and losing a closely-contested 1-0 to the Netherlands. Scotland are coming off a positive result in their last outing. They were able to secure another 1-1 draw against 17th-ranked Belgium, this time as the away side.
