Scotland vs England Prediction & Betting Tips - International Friendlies
by Steve Ashfield | in Football Predictions
Scotland host England at Hampden Park in a special match to celebrate 150 years of the two nations playing each other. They used to regularly play each other before the Home Internationals were wrongly scrapped. It's truly one of the great rivalries in world football but hopefully the goal posts will stay intact this time unlike a famous game at Wembley in the past. Both countries are top of their Euro Championship qualifying groups and well on their way to the finals in Germany next year. There are no points at stake in this international friendly but don't let that fool you into thinking this might just be another fairly meaningless game Scotland beat Cyprus on Friday to continue their 100 percent record in their Euro group. The following day England remained top of their group but could only draw 1-1 against Ukraine. Gareth Southgate wasn't pleased with that performance and some team changes are likely to be made, besides that's what you do in friendlies isn't it? But this isn't just any friendly and no English boss wants to lose to Scotland.Limited Offer. Currently at DraftKings

Scotland - England: Form Analysis
Scotland come into this match having won their last five matches. Only a couple more points are needed from their final three games to ensure playing in the finals of the 2024 European Championships. That will be back-to-back Euro finals for the Scottish side but they still have to see off Spain to win the group. They beat them at home and that was an excellent result. The two teams face each other again next month in Spain, so Scottish boss Steve Clarke will want to see another good performance from his team in this match. He's love to get a win over the Auld Enemy as would every Scottish fan in attendance at Hampden Park on Tuesday evening. Scotland have only managed to do that once in their last 12 matches against England. The last win coming in 1999 so they'll be out to get their first victory over England in the 21st century. They have only conceded one goal in their last five internationals. It took Erling Haaland to score that goal but even then it came from the penalty spot. Their last two home games hav both been won but with under 2.5 goals scored in them.
England are unbeaten in their last five internationals against Scotland. The most recent meeting was in the group stages of Euro 2020 that was played a year later due to the pandemic. That ended goalless and was the seventh time in the last 11 matches between these two countries that under 2.5 goals were scored. England had a 100 percent record in their Euro qualifying group and that included a win over the defending champions (who of course beat England in the 2020 final) in Italy. Last Saturday though they lost that 100 percent record when only drawing against Ukraine but should still make it to Germany for next year's Euro finals. They haven't lost since the 2022 World Cup defeat by France. That loss is the only one they have suffered in their last 11 matches. Southgate will want to see a better performance from his team in this match.

Scotland & England Squad Analysis
Scotland's boss had a much more enjoyable weekend then his English counterpart. Steve Clarke will know how important a win over the Three Lions is to the Scottish fans. A strong line-up is therefore likely to be fielded by him with players such as Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay likely to be again fielded. England's Gareth Southgate wasn't delighted with how his team performed against Ukraine and will want to experiment a bit before they resume their Euro qualifying campaign. Jordan Henderson and Harry Maguire are likely to be left out and we can possibly expect to see Phil Foden make his return to the starting line-up, though probably not in central midfield which seems to be the desire of the Manchester City player. It's also possible that players such as Callum Wilson and Aaron Ramsdale may be given some pitch time unlike at the weekend.
