Schalke start the weekend in the dreaded fifth place in the table. That'd get them in the Europa League but it's the Champions League they really want. They are a point behind fourth placed Leverkusen but with them having to play leaders Bayern Munich this weekend, this is a great chance to get into the top four. Schalke won well at Darmstadt last weekend but returned from their winter break with a home defeat to relegation threatened Werder Bremen. Hopefully that loss was just getting rid of the cobwebs and it's important they won that Darmstadt match.  Wolfsburg are down in seventh place just three points behind Schalke and will go ahead of them with a win here. However, current form is not good at all. They have failed to win any of their last six league games earning just three points and will need to improve before the Champions League resumes. Since the winter break, Wolfsburg have lost at Frankfurt and drawn at home to Koln. They have the worst away record in the league with just six points all season from nine games and only six goals. Schalke should be able to get a home win here and boost their Champions League qualification hopes.
