SC Braga vs Benfica Lisbon Prediction & Betting Tips - Taca de Portugal
by Devesh Jaganath in Football Predictions
For the last quarter-final fixture in the Coupe du Portugal, we will see two Primeira Liga sides lock horns as Benfica travel to Estadio Municipal de Braga to take on SC Braga on Thursday night. This promises to be an exciting encounter between two sides that are in good league form. The visitors are the current league leaders, with 53 points in 20 matches, eight clear of Porto in second. Benfica overcame fellow cup quarter-finalists Casa Pia 3-0 in their last match, which extended their recent win streak to 4 in a row while going seven matches in succession without defeat. Benfica beat Estoril and Varzim on route to this stage and will want to take a step closer to securing a domestic double with a win in this one.
Braga has been also been in good form this season and has gotten themselves into third place in the league thanks to a solid run of results since the World Cup break. They have managed to record 43 points in their 19 league matches, ten points behind their opponents, although they do have a game in hand. Braga had a fairly tricky path to the quarter-final, needing to overcome Vitoria and Moreirense in the previous two matches in this competition. The last defeat Benfica suffered came at the hands of Braga, who put on a dominant display, winning 3-0 at the end of December. In front of their home crowd again this time, Braga will know they have what it takes to beat the current tournament favourites and will fancy themselves to take this one down to the wire.

Our SC Braga vs Benfica Lisbon Prediction
As both teams recent records suggest, this is a very evenly balanced match that both teams will believe they can win. The visitors do have a marginally better record in recent weeks and come into this match as the favourite on most bookmaker odds. However, it should be noted that the last defeat that Benfica suffered was at the hands of Braga, who have also been the better side in this fixture over the last two years. With Benfica still active in the Taca da Liga, Champions League, and trying to hold onto the top spot in the league, Braga will see this as an opportunity to capitalize on their opponents, who will likely be forced to rest a few of their big names. Therefore, our Braga v Benfica prediction is a double chance for the hosts to win or draw.
