Sassuolo will be hoping to start the New Year with a much-needed win in the Serie A when they play host to Fiorentina on Saturday evening. The hosts are currently in 16th place in the league standings, while the visitors are fourth. Sassuolo ended last year very poorly and will start 2024 with 16 points after 18 matches. That leaves them just two points above Cagliari, who are the first side below the dotted line. They have taken 33 points from their 18 matches so far and are trailing third-placed AC Milan by just three points. Viola ended 2023 with a 1-0 win over Torino, which extended their winning streak to three matches in a row, and they are unbeaten in their last eight in all competitions. During that time, the visitors also booked their place in the knockout stages of the Conference League, where they topped their group with 12 points and were unbeaten. On the road, Fiorentina are unbeaten in three games and won at this venue 3-1 last season. The visitors are heavily fancied to come out on top here.
