Sao Tome and Principe vs South Africa Prediction & Betting Tips - AFCON
by Daniel Ngulu | in Football Predictions
Sao Tome & Principe are still in search of their first win in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers and will have another chance on Match Day 4 when they host South Africa. The hosts go to this game as the only team yet to score a goal so far in the qualifiers, and as a result are bottom of Group C. In the meantime, South Africa are on course for qualification and with four points in the next two matches, they will be there, as they are currently second on six points. In their last match, a tour of South Africa, Sao Tome fell 2-0, their third straight loss in this group and the 17th match they have failed to keep a clean sheet. They started off this competition from the preliminary stage and beat Mauritius home and away to make it to the group stages. Those two remain their only wins in the last 15 matches. They have conceded seven goals in their three group matches, and five of these have come in the second half. The team has played nine matches at home in AFCON qualifiers, and have won four while none of the last nine have produced a clean sheet.
Sao Tome are not known to pull great results, and will not be participating at the tournament if they drop points in this game. South Africa on the other hand, have one foot in the finals. They labored in the first half against Sao Tome in the first meeting but did the job in the second half. Perhaps they can finish this one early enough but in their last two matches, they have scored second half goals. they have not conceded in their last two matches in AFCON qualifiers while they have failed to score in just one of the last five. Their loss to Ghana in the earlier group game remains the only away loss in the last six away AFCON qualification matches. In the said six matches, they have won three and kept three clean sheets while scoring two or more goals in four. They have scored four goals in the last four away matches in AFCON qualifiers, and all these have come in the second half.

Our Sao Tome and Principe vs South Africa Prediction
South Africa labored through their 2-0 win over Sao Tome in the Friday meeting between these two nations and could go through the same here. They are not known to be fast starters and Sao Tome may just feel they can take advantage while playing at home. They made Ghana labor through their 1-0 win here and most of the goals they have conceded in the qualifiers have come in the second half. While South Africa remains favorites here, it will not be a comfortable outing and we will go with a draw at half time and a South Africa win in the second half.
