Sao Paulo will play host to Coritiba in the Brazilian Serie A on Thursday. The hosts are currently in 14th place in the league, while the visitors are at the bottom of the league standings. Sao Paulo come into this match following a 1-1 draw against Flamengo in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil final. That result earned them the title, having won the first leg 1-0 on the road. However, they now return to the league, where their form has not been great. Paulista Tricolour lost their last league match 2-1 to Fortaleza, which extended their winless run in Serie A to eight games. The last time they won a league game was against Santos in mid-July. During that time, they were also knocked out of the Copa Sudamericana by LDU Quito on penalties. However, with the cup competitions now over, the hosts can concentrate solely on regaining momentum in the league. They are unbeaten in their last six against this opponent and are the clear favourites at the books. 

Meanwhile, this season has been an absolute nightmare for Coritiba so far. They have managed just 14 points in 23 matches and looked destined for relegation barring a miraculous comeback in the final stages of the season. The visitors were beaten 5-1 by Vasco da Gama over the weekend. That was their seventh consecutive loss, and they conceded a whopping 23 goals in that time while scoring eight. Coxa have also lost each of their last four away games and have only won one match on the road this season. Their biggest issue this term has been their defence, which has conceded 51 goals so far, averaging more than two goals per game. Coritiba did take a point in the reverse fixture but will likely find it more difficult at Estadio Cicero Pompeu de Toledo.
