The 2020 Brasileiro Serie A championship kicks off this weekend with a fascinating roster of clubs. Santos, one of the traditional heavyweights of Brazilian football, play host to newly-promoted RB Bragantino. Formerly known as Atletico Bragantino, the club changed their name this year after being taken over by energy drink giant Red Bull. It is the latest in a long line of football clubs to play under the Red Bull name, the most prominent being RB Leipzig of the Bundesliga. The club have strengthened ahead of the new season by adding a band of promising players under the age of 23, including winger Arthur and goalkeeper Cleiton. Santos have not made significant additions to their squad but reportedly have money to spend after selling prized teenage star Rodrygo to Real Madrid for £ 40.5 million. Flamengo dominated Brazilian football last year, later going on to win the Copa Libertadores, but Santos finished second in the Brasileiro. With Flamengo adapting to the departure of manager Jorge Jesus, Santos may believe that this is their opportunity to capitalize on their rivals' state of flux. Before they can do that, Santos need to sort their form out.

Both Santos and Bragantino have just finished playing the state championships, each with differing fortunes. Santos failed to win any of their three matches leading up to this contest, drawing one and losing the other two. Bragatino, meanwhile, only lost one of the five state championship games they've been involved in, winning the other five. Santos have the upper hand in recent matches, winning three and drawing two of the last six matches with Bragantino. They won 14 of their 19 matches on home soil in last year's Brasileiro, so they will have confidence going into this match. Yet, given their form, we think Bragantino are a decent bet.
