Another Super Lig season is here and Besiktas have the chance to address their low finish in the past season. They start the new campaign with an away game at Samsunspor on Sunday. Here we have an analysis of the match and a prediction.

The home team had a poor run towards the end of the 2023/24 campaign, winning once in the final nine matches. In that form, they would finish 13th and just three points above the relegation region.

By large, their low finish was occasioned by a poor start to the championship as they managed just two points from the opening nine games. Samsunspor really did well at home in the final stages of the season, going unbeaten in seven matches. They lost just two of their closing 17 home league games, though one of them was against Besiktas.

Their sixth placed finish last season wasn’t as bad as the 46-point gap between them and the champions. Ending the season that low didn’t augur well with Besiktas’ profile and Gio van Bronckhorst will hope to guide the team to a better year.
