AC Milan travel to the Luigi Ferraris Stadium to take on Sampdoria in the penultimate round of the Serie A season this Wednesday. Sampdoria, 15th in the table, are safe from relegation trouble and will hope to climb up the league between now and the season's end. The top ten is a pipe dream but one rooted to reality as Verona, in ninth, are only five points away. AC Milan are sixth in the table, unable to reach the Champions League places but only four points behind AS Roma in fifth. Sixth place gets a Europa League play-off spot, while fifth goes directly to the group stage. Milan will be aware that Napoli, one point behind in seventh, are breathing down their necks. Milan have been in stunning form since the restart though; they are now 11 games unbeaten and playing sterling football no matter the opponent. They have beaten Napoli, Juventus, Lazio, and AS Roma on a run so good that thought-to-be-exiting coach Stefano Pioli had his contract renewed by the club. Ante Rebic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have been leading the scoring for a Milan team that has scored at least two goals in nine of their last 11 fixtures.

Sampdoria have been a mixed bag since the restart. They recently enjoyed a three-game winning streak yet enter this match having lost two games on the bounce. Of the last six home games they have played, there have been three wins and three defeats. This makes their matches a little hard to predict but there is one constant: Goals. There have been at least three goals in 13 of the last 14 Serie A matches that Sampdoria have been involved in.
