Salzburg are unbeaten in their last 16 league and cup games and top the Austrian Bundesliga by seven points with a 100% record. They began the season in the Champions League but lost in the play-off round to Red Star Belgrade on away goals and didn't lose any of their qualifiers. Moved into the Europa League they began this group with a 3-2 win at Leipzig scoring twice in the first 22 minutes. Leipzig drew level in the 82nd minute but Gulbrandsen gave Salzburg an important win with a goal a minute from time. Home form has seen them unbeaten in competitive games since November 2016. They have gone nine home Europa League games without defeat and last season Marseille (twice), Lazio, Borussia Dortmund and Real Sociedad all failed to get a victory in Salzburg.

Celtic have had an eventful season so far with several Champions League qualifiers played before losing to AEK Athens in the third qualifying round. They made it into the Europa League group stages and began with a late goal giving them a 1-0 win over Rosenborg. It's not been so successful in the Scottish Championship and they are fifth in the table, six points behind leaders Hearts and without an away win. They beat Aberdeen 1-0 at home on Saturday but only have one loss in their last ten games but one point from three away league games is very un-Celtic like. It's rather common in this competition though in which they have gone 12 games without an away win with one win in the last 20. Salzburg are the form team and can get a home win from this game.
