Major League Soccer newcomers St. Louis City will look to keep their perfect start to the new season when they host San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday in round four. St. Louis have surged to the top of the Western Conference standings with nine points while San Jose are fifth with six points in the same conference. St. Louis are the latest expansion team in the 29-team league and are the only side left with a 100% record so far. They are also the most lethal side thus far with eight goals scored in their three matches. They beat Portland Timbers 2-1 last time out which was the first match in which they had not scored three goals. Their defence however hasn’t matched the exploits of their attack and have conceded in each game this season.

San Jose Earthquakes have bounced back from their matchday one loss to Atlanta United and have won their last two matches. They beat Colorado Rapids 1-0 last time out to secure their first clean sheet of the campaign. The win however came at a cost as Jamiro Monteiro was red-carded and will therefore not be available for this match. Having lost their only away match this season, not having a full squad to pick from hampers their preparations for this trip.
