After seven matches in the MLS season, two sides that have gotten off to a good start this season will do battle when St Louis City play hosts op Cincinnati at City Park on Sunday. The hosts currently sit in second place in the Western Conference standings with 15 points, just one point behind the Seattle Sounders at the top and one point above LAFC, though they have played one more game than the side from LA. St Louis were excellent in the first month of the league, winning each of their first five matches this season; however, they suffered an unexpected loss to Minnesota United at the start of April before losing to the Sounders last week, bringing them into this one winless in their last two matches. The hosts have won two and lost one of their three home matches this season, scoring six goals and conceding two in that time. These sides have never met in the MLS before, but the hosts will know that they have a match on their hands. 

Cincinnati has started the season better than the rest in the Eastern Conference, currently leading the way after seven matches. The visitors are unbeaten this season and have taken 17 of a possible 21 points with a record of five wins and two draws, scoring nine goals and conceding four. Cincinnati won their last match 1-0 against Philadelphia Union, which saw them move a point clear of New England who are in second place. While still unbeaten on the road this season, Cincinnati’s away form has been slightly worse than at home, with one win and two draws from their three matches. The visitors will likely try to keep this level for as long as possible and try to catch the hosts out of the break, which is how they’ve conceded several goals so far this season.
